General Information

Special Edition was released on December 15, 1999 as an extension to the first game, 1st TRACKS. Special Edition dropped the Hip Hop theme and adopted a more Techno-Like atmosphere. Only 3 modes are available in this version, 'Street Mix', 'Radio Mix' and 'Club Mix'. The 'Exercise' mode was removed. In September 2000, the game was exhibited with the title "EZ4DJ" at the Japanese AM Show, presumably to avoid legal issues with Konami. However only the marquee text was changed, the game and the rest of the cabinet still displayed the "EZ2DJ" branding.

  • Slogan:

  • For the first time in the series, songs could be played in multiple difficulties - EZMIX, NMMIX, HDMIX, REMIX.
  • For the first time 4D mode was introduced, varying the scroll speed of each lane when enabled, using a hidden command this can be applied to all songs.
  • For the first time in the series, players can adjust the scroll speed during song selection instead of using a hidden command.
  • Only game in the EZ2DJ series where varying the speed of the turntable will vary the pitch of the note, this is enabled with the "Speed Sensor" effector option. Obviously very inspired by a similar system in the Beatmania series.
  • Long notes can now appear on both the turntable and pedal.
